In mid-November 2009, Thawte made changes to their service offerings and their website with no prior notice. Thawte no longer offers personal email certificates. The Thawte web-of-trust is no longer supported. The SSL certificate administration pages for new requests, renewal, and approval have changed. Our existing documentation is no longer accurate and the certificate process needs to be re-engineered and documented again.
The IT Services TSO team has taken on responsibility of SSL certificate management moving forward. They will design a new process, document it, and support it. For assistance please contact TSO by sending an email to the IT Services Help Desk or by calling the Help Desk at 206-543-7012.
IT Services is registered with Thawte as the authorized party for requesting and renewing SSL certificates for several registered UW Medicine domain names. System administrators or other staff responsible for configuring SSL encryption on servers in these domains should work through TSO to obtain Thawte certificates for their servers.
