Cisco VPN Client

To use the Cisco VPN Client you will need to download and install the client software and a profile.

Step 1 - Software

Find your operating system and pick the version you want.

Most people will want to download and install the "Current" version.

You need to have local administrator rights - usually - to install software.

Installing the VPN software requires you to turn off your anti-virus software before you start, and for Windows computers, you'll need to reboot after it's finished.

Step 2 - Profile

Once the client is installed, you will need a profile to configure the VPN client's options.

The most commonly used profile is the Staff profile.

If you are in a Clinic or Department that uses VPN as part of its established process, you can browse the Profiles page to find the right profile.

Once you authenticate, you are "inside" UW Medicine's network, but working remotely!


Notes for Sysadmins

If your users use the VPN and you want them to be able to connect to your server, then will you need to trust the VPN concentrator's internal subnets in your firewall(s) in order for your user's sessions to be allowed in. Here are the details:
