What can SIT do for you? The Security Infrastructure Team at UW Medicine has a wide set of services available to help protect your systems, grant remote access, keep network connectivity flowing in the datacenters, enable SSL web sites, perform forensic investigations, and consulting for those situations that can be harder to define.
Firewalls are your main line of defense against network attacks from unauthorized computers or unauthorized protocols from otherwise trusted computers. At UW Medicine we use a defense-in-depth approach blending data center firewalls, network firewalls and personal firewalls.
Looking to access UW Medicine resources when you're offsite? We support keeping your data safe at UW Medicine and accessing it securely. Our SSL VPN and IPsec VPN technologies work in a complementary way with UW Medicine firewalls, allowing authorized personnel remote access to their systems and data.
SIT supports data center networking and firewalls. In the data centers SIT performs IP Provisioning as part of server placement. We also keep a list of UW Medicine-affiliated networks, the UW Medicine Subnet List.
SSL Certificates are critical to ensure secure client-server web communications. SIT supports Thawte certificates for several UW Medicine domains: mcis.washington.edu, uwmedicine.org, and others.
