Goal: Implement improved systems and processes to verify the identity of people requesting access to UW Medicine systems and data, issue credentials in a secure manner, ensure only appropriate access is granted, and manage access throughout the lifecycle of each user.
Summary: The Enterprise Identity and Access Management (EIAM) Program was originally conceived as a single project. However, more detailed analysis revealed opportunities for improvement in several related areas including policy, administrative processes, authentication systems, authorization systems, provisioning systems, and audit tools and processes. As a result, the original project was recast as a long-term program with subprojects in several areas. More information about individual subprojects is provided below.
Status: The UAA Process and System Improvements I (UPSI-1) Project was initiated in November, 2004 and completed in November, 2006. The UAA Process and System Improvements II (UPSI-2) Project was initiated in November, 2006 and the first of several planned releases was completed in March, 2007. The FHCRC & SCCA UW NetID Project was originally launched in May, 2007, stalled due to resource contention until March, 2008, and is now underway. A preliminary scoping project for a new Sponsored UW NetID Service was also initiated in May, 2007. The follow-on project got underway in late February, 2008. Several other projects are under consideration for inclusion in the EIAM Program.
