Security Alerts

System owners and operators must stay informed about security vulnerabilities that affect their systems and they must take steps to reduce or eliminate the risks of exploitation. Applying security patches is one of the most important ways to prevent system compromise via exploitation of known vulnerabilities.

In the past, SIT evaluated announcements of vulnerabilities and patches and wrote security bulletins that were posted on this site. This process has been modified. SIT will continue to monitor announcements of vulnerabilities and patches and will forward them, along with their recommendations, to any UW Medicine users that wish to subscribe to our email list for this purpose. Archives of past alerts are also available.

As an additional aid for system owners and operators, we have compiled a list of sites where new vulnerabilities are discussed. We also maintain a list of vendor patch release sites organized by product type.
